The yahoo is one of the best yahoo might be populer but you should also look at the quality of the traffic and visitors which they deliver.I never counting the how many advertise on yahoo and you should look out the qualtiy of the traffic and visitor which they visited. In my experience it is much lower and less likely to convert then what you would see with Google traffic and visitors.

Their algorithm is different from google. The way yahoo ranks websites is not same as how google does. But the basic SEO is pretty much same for all search engines.

The purpose of this article is to address known SEO relating to Yahoo. Yahoo! is placing particular emphasis on anchor text and IBL. It ended after Yahoo and Microsoft realized the importance of search as a standalone business.

The sort of quality of the traffic and the visitors delivered by Yahoo are really bad. Google delivers much better traffic and visitors.

Quality backlinks seem to be working out greatly online, no matter what search engines you are going to target. Links would help your website with reaching the top of Yahoo after some time as well.

External aspects are all those things that happen outside of the web site, for example, links from other sites, position in DMOZ, links from social web sites, etc.
Internal aspects are all those aspects where the webmasters can put their hands on the web site, for example: Meta titles, meta descriptions, meta keywords, content of the body, titles, photos, internal structure of the web site, images, alt, etc.
A page designed with Yahoo in mind must have a good meta title and a simple meta description and it should also be related with the keywords and the page content. Yahoo frequently uses this to rank pages but, keep also in mind aspects like proximity and density of keywords.

Aspects of backlink counts that must be taken into consideration when optimizing your website for Yahoo!:

* Quality of site - like Google has attempted to do in the past with PageRank and is learning to do with TrustRank, sheer numbers aren't what will get you high rankings on Yahoo!, the quality of those links is more important.
* Position of link - like all the major engines, the position of your link on the page is important. A link at or near the bottom of the page is less valuable than a link nearer to the top. Also, if your link is on a page with other links, the effect that link will have on your rankings decreases respective to the number of links on the linking page.
* Anchor text - the text used to link to your site will help reinforce that the keywords in that anchor text are associated with your site/page. Also, if that anchor text in in the midst of the content it will hold greater weight than if that anchor text is in a directory-style format above a description (i.e. link a standard links page)
* Non-reciprocal links - reciprocal links are certainly still valuable on Yahoo! however it is important to supplement these links with non-reciprocal links in the form of directory listings and other one-way links.
