Dmoz and Yahoo Directory

How important is it to be listed in Dmoz and Yahoo Directory if I wanted my site to rank well?

May I know how long does it take to get my site listed in DMOZ once I submit?? Cos i submitted one of my blog in Dmoz directory 3 months back. I could not find the update till now..

A beginner should not be too concerned about DMOZ listing as DMOZ acceptance relies heavily on who you know in addition to good content, design and high traffic. I strongly recommend you wait at least six months after you fully establish your site before you apply for a DMOZ listing. Otherwise you will not be taken seriously.

Also, don't hold your breath after the submission as some people do not hear anything for up to 2 years (which should not be the case but is for some categories). I would put more effort in the content of my site, my Google search rankings, and increasing/maintaining traffic than anything else.
