Post Yahoo! Trying to Compete

Day after day Yahoo! is trying to compete with Google. It is pointless for Yahoo! to try to compete with Google. They are two totally different companies trying to accomplish two totally different tasks. Yahoo! has secured a great deal with it's real estate market and should stay on track with functions such as these. Google is trying to compete with Microsoft as a software company while Yahoo! is trying to be the ultimate search engine. My opinion is that Yahoo! should keep focusing on it's search engine capabilities and allow Google to compete with Microsoft in a software war. Does anyone disagree with me other than Bill Gates? (I hear he's terrified of Google.)

Well, honestly it's not that Google's search engine is that much more advanced than Yahoo's, or even more advanced at all. The two search engines are very similar. They both generate the same information and Google has not been hacked the same way that Yahoo has. Being that Google started after Yahoo, it was able to put in many safeguards that Yahoo never thought until it was too late. Yahoo does have the Instant Messenger and mail services that will keep them running for years. There is no possible way that so many people will change over from Yahoo mail and messenger to a different service overnight. I definitely think Yahoo is losing the search engine battle, but not the Internet presence war.

have you used gtalk(google messanger) I have used it and its pretty good, similar to yahoo messanger.

I didnot like gmail. yahoo should improve their search engine so that there is no monopoly.

Yahoo! and Google are trying to do similar things, which is to dominate the search engine market, primarially.
Yahoo! does compete with Google, and it does have a sizable market share, so you can't say it's pointless or a waste of time.

Cool

As a user, I never think about their competitions but as long as I can use all services offered by both, that’s fine to me.
I use both google and yahoo. Nothing to loose….

I think competition is fine and every company should be allowed to challenge each other. Yahoo can focus on search engine and at the same time be a center for information resource.

No doubt yahoo is very popular and most popular for its messenger and mail not for its search. On the other hand, google is the king of search engines, and popular in very short time for its gmail and gtalk. Yahoo will never go up than google what I think
