Default MSN...Gone With the Wind?

Well, MSN was a huge website at one time. Everyone has MSN installed as their homepage when they buy a new computer but that does not last long with the able minded consumers of today. People change their homepage as soon as their computer is turned on. This leads me to the question of a lifetime. Has the Microsoft Network finally met it's match? Maybe a few different companies have come together to eliminate Microsoft's hold on society. Yahoo, Google, and even The Weather Channel have become more common that MSN as a homepage. Hotmail has been dealt a rotten hand after its lifetime of problems and is no longer a formidable competitor in the free e-mail industry. Is MSN gone with the wind or can it be revived? What will it take for MSN to come back?

Red face I agree

Yes, friend. I also agree with that. MSN was the great site when everybody was
new to internet world. But, I don't think Microsoft has lost its competitive power. Its still mastering the computer world with more and more products.

Microsoft may be mastering the computer world with products, but Apple is mastering the computer world with effective and error free products. Microsoft is losing its grasp slowly but surely. I would not be suprised to see Microsoft either buy Apple or vice-versa. The only problem with that is the monopoly issue. There is the possibility of a merger, which could eliminate the monopoly if one sticks to software and the other focuses on hardware.

One thing is correct. Microsoft is scared. They are now saying that, the open source operating systems like linux has broken hundreads of patents of Microsoft. The main reason behind this is the decision of DELL to implement Linux on their PCs.

MSN is still alive, dont worry. Its making money and people are using it. People use its search engine, and people use the MSN chat system as well. Its just that, msn doesnt have ads saying "Ads by MSN" like Google does, so everyone in the online world knows about it.

msn mail is still the best in my opinion as compared to others. I still use hotmail rather than yahoo or gmail.

I think MSN has already been left behind ever since the day they started. Today the internet search engine field has already been dominated by Google and Yahoo. I don't know why but I think they place too much emphasis on developing operating system and thus neglected MSN.
