Duplicate Content Explained
Duplicate content is a term that is VERY misunderstood. Most people think if they write an article, they can only submit it to one website on the internet. This is NOT true!
Identical content CAN be on many (even hundreds) of different websites! Don't just take my word for it… check it out for yourself!
Go to google, and type in the name of your favorite celebrity. Go ahead... do it now. Find an article about this celebrity. Now click on the website where the article is. Copy the article; you can copy the entire article or just the first few paragraphs.
Go back to google. Start your search with quotation marks (so you get EXACT matches) paste in the article and end with quotation marks. Now search!
The EXACT same article... word for word is on hundreds of different sites!!! On my particular search there was 8,060 websites with the very same article! None of them have been penalized for having this article.
So if that's NOT duplicate content... then what is it?
DUPLICATE CONTENT is the same content that appears on different pages on the same website. People used to do this to make their websites look really big. They would change the title of the article, and just post the same content on another page.
So what does this mean for you? You CAN submit your article to more than one website! After all, you spend a lot of time preparing your articles... let's make them work for you.
I hope this thread has answered some of your questions and helped you better understand how google works.
