New website, up and down on Google ranking

Hi Guys,

I've created a new website. After building the website last month, it was nowhere to be seen on Google as it was new, then I did some basic SEO on the website by optimizing keywords and some link building on similar topic websites etc. and it came up on Google on Page 1 and 2 for a couple of keywords. After checking in the last couple of days in the hope that the ranking would go up as my link building should take into effect, I noticed that the ranking have gone down slightly (3-4 ranks). I would like to know if this is normal or Googlebot has penalised me for bad SEO techniques?

But still you are on the first page ? Why worry then, if only your website moved to #6, you've to worry because..#6 result gets least clicks than anything else on the first page.
