I would like to know about sitemap. How sitemap is important in SEO and how to create it?

Sitemap is nothing more than a standalone webpage that are in html format. Sitemap plays an important role for visitors as well as crawlers. For visitors, browsing through different web pages become easier whereas for crawlers indexing become easier as they index the site based on the sitemap.

HTML sitemap, I would say is really useful. More so for sites with complex navigation.

Google sitemap (XML format, can be used for other SEs as well) is good to have but no way essential. Google depends more on your navigation and links on site to determine the importance, frequency to crawl etc. Sitemaps can be helpful, but Google obviously is not going to take the priority / frequency given by you very seriously.

Sitemap is the brain of a website..I agree that. It is to inform googlebot to explore all pages from one page and that is sitemap.
