It use to be when you started a new site, one of the first things you did was get your site listed in DMOZ. It seems to be less of a SEO topic than it was in the past and was wondering if webmasters of new sites still think there is a value in getting your site listed in DMOZ.

I have found it help full for advertising software. It probably depends on what you are marketing.

the value of domz still height so don't try to subit in unless u sure that ur site match its standerds because if u didn't accepted u cann't submit ur site again it's usually test once only

The dmoz link has a head start in this respect since you also get in the google directory. The thing about the dmoz link is that a lot of the major engines, including the 1400 pound gorilla, Google, uses it as their directory. Google at least seems to give a boost to sites that are also listed in dmoz.

Dmoz is still just as important. Getting in there would help you alot in the other search engines.

You get extra google "juice" from a listing at DMOZ but they are very picky. Make sure that you website meets their minimum standards because they can and will reject you for seemingly inconsequential things.

The problem is they are VERY slow to add sites to the directory. Good luck getting in.

The editors are not paid so that is both good and bad for content. If you find a category you want to edit go ahead and apply with your link. Alot of times the editors get bored and decide they are not interested anymore so it can take some time. You will find demoz itself verbatem at times in the search engine so it is very, very helpful. For music sites I looked up site rings and lists also but I think that some of the hits are fraudulent on those things. old fashion link exchange still works I just go a user from them but it took three days on the one I tested. I get .7 credits for every click so I get at least two page views for every three hits, you have to have some traffic to start with though
