I am no big time blogger - but I read some big blogs like John Chow, Dosh Dosh, ShoeMoney, SearchengineJournal etc.
From what I see -
* One has to dedicate a good lot of time
* One has to have in-depth knowledge of the industry he/she wants to blog about
* Must provide high quality information that the readers want to read.
* Arrange contents from time to time.
* Offer -FREE give-aways from time to time.
* Moreover - have a spoteneous connection with readers by regularly interacting with them through comments.
At the end - few dedicated readers is what a blog is all about.
