ASP programmers make more the PHP programmers

It seems like ASP programmers make more money in general then php programmers. I think this is because to learn PHP you do not need to purchase software while to learn Microsoft technologies you have to buy the development software.

I believe what Brian is saying relates to the fact that you need to have Microsoft development software to really learn ASP in depth. PHP is widespread compatible with everything and you can teach yourself for free. I would not agree that just buying the software is why the pay is higher. I think the reason the pay is higher is because it is a Microsoft initiative. Any programmer with Microsoft knowledge gets paid more because of that name. Plain and simple Gates sells.
